My father's restaurant is coming up on its 1 year anniversary. It would be great if it could actually be busy again. It's been a slow year and it's been hard on my dad both financially and emotionally. I would take it as a personal favor if any of you can make it out to Alameda for lunch or dinner one(or more!) of these days.

The restaurant is called Acquacotta and located at 1544 Webster St. in Alameda. My dad makes amazing classic Italian food, the recipes for which he comes up with himself. He doesn't always have vegetarian foods on the menu, but if you call in with a day's notice, he'll always make it happen.

Today I went hiking with Wayli. We went up in the woods, and generally had a good time. Much adventuring to be had. I should do things like that more often. Also, I've been playing with a drop spindle and doing the whole knitting thing. Living with Ria makes it easier to do that, actually. I like it. Speaking of which, I probably shouldn't drink quite as much as I do sometimes. Collin came down for the weekend and he and I got rather drunk with Wal and Ria and one thing lead to another. Oops. It's not as awkward as I thought it would be, so that's good.

I neglected my reading all year in favor of school work. It was the "right" choice but certainly not the fun one. So I'm using my summer to catch up. So i'm putting together a list of prospective reading materials.

I was channel surfing while eating lunch and came across Judge Mathis. I don't know what originally compelled me to continue watching but I'm SO glad I did.

Today's case: Plaintiff found an amputated human leg inside a used smoker which he acquired in a storage auction. He Turned it in to police. The defendant claimed his leg from the police. Now the Plaintiff claims he has a right to his property, the defendant's leg.

WTF???

Oh and in addition, the defendant is a really amusing guy. He's tossing puns around all the time. Omg so funny.

Seriously though, don't you think telemarketers should at least be able to speak English when calling a primarily English speaking country? I just got a call from a guy who said "hello how are you" about five times and when I asked who was calling, he didn't answer, he asked right back.

wtf guys?

I really don't care what country your business is based in (in this case probably India considering the thick accent) at least hire people who will be able to communicate their mission BEFORE annoying the fuck out of your prospective customers.

So I appear to have taken up fish breeding. I will shortly have around 100-200 fish that will need homes. I've decided this may be a way to bring in a little bit of money while I'm in college.

The fish which just gave birth is a Neon Swordtail. She had 55 young, all of which are surviving so far. They will be old enough to move in a two or three weeks, though they won't be all that interesting looking for another month or so after. They usually sell for about $3-4 and I'll be selling them for $1-2 depending on size.

I have a Dalmatian Molly also about to give birth. Swordtails and mollies are compatible tankmates and both are fairly hardy fish. Mollies can live in salinated water so long as they are acclimated before being moved from fresh to saltwater. They are very closely related to swordtails and can sometimes crossbreed. The fry will be old enough to sell about a month after this one gives birth. These too usually go for about $4-5 and I'll be selling them for $2

Finally I have a Gold Dust Molly who is more gold than dust and who may also be pregnant. I'm still unsure about her, but should she drop fry, they will be the same price as the Dalmatians.
